The exhibition Piranesi, Rome, and the Arts of Design will open in San Diego, California, on March 30th 2013, at The San Diego Museum of Art. The exhibition was previously shown at Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Venezia, and Caixa Forum in Madrid and Barcelona.
It contains numerous objects designed by Piranesi and made by Factum Arte.
And also a short animation film made by myself in 2010 for Factum Arte and Cini: Piranesi, Carceri d’Invenzione (Vimeo link, watch the video also below in this post).
Photographs by Gabriele Basilico, shown with the corresponding views of Rome by Piranesi, complete the materials made specifically for the exhibition.
About 250 prints of Piranesi from the Fondazione Cini are on display.
The exhibition will be held until July 7th.
On March 29th, 6pm at the James S. Copley Auditorium, Adam Lowe, one of the leading innovators in the field of digital mediation and director and founder of Factum Arte, will discuss his personal reflections and the evolution of Piranesi, Rome, and the Arts of Design.
